Every Day is a Holiday

Beirut, current day. Three women, unknown to each other, board the same bus headed towards the men’s prison in the Lebanese backcountry. Through the course of this journey across this arid terrain, the women will be forced to confront the quest for their own independence…

Every Day is a Holiday, first feature film of Lebanese filmmaker Dima El Horr, will open the festival in its first screening in Beirut, on Thursday 16th of September 2010, at 07:30 PM (on invitation only).

Biography
Dima El-Horr was born in Lebanon and earned an MFA from the school of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her short films include The Street, 9 Years Later, Prêt à porter and Imm Ali. Everyday Is a Holiday is her first feature film.

بيروت، في يومنا هذا. ثلاث نساء لا يعرفن بعضهن، يركبن حافلة واحدة، باتجاه سجن الرجال، الواقع في منطقة لبنانية نائية. في وسط هذه الأرض القاحلة، ومن خلال الرحلة، يجدن أنفسهن، ورغم إراداتهن، في مواجهةٍ تخوضها كل منهن بحثاً عن استقلالها الخاص…

 يفتتح فيلم “كل يوم عيد” للمخرجة اللبنانية ديمة الحر مهرجان أيام بيروت السينمائية في دورته السادسة. الدعوة خاصة.

 المخرجة
ولدت ديمة الحر في لبنان وحازت على شهادة البكالوريوس من معهد الفنون في شيكاغو. من بين أفلامها الروائية القصيرة هوية ضائعة، وجاهز للحمل، وأم علي. كل يوم عيد أول أعمالها الروائية الطويلة.
